Module Overview

Module Description

In this module, you will examine the different ways presidents have interpreted and used federal power and discuss how this has changed over time.  You will also analyze Presidents Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt’s understanding of their federal power and the purpose of government in the context of the Great Depression. After reviewing materials from the lesson about Presidents Hoover and Roosevelt, you will evaluate other lesson plan examples on the development and use of federal power.

As you work through the module, consider how each activity, reading, and the lesson as a whole help incorporate constitutional principles and civic virtues for an education for self-governance.

Throughout this module you will complete quizzes and other checks to assess your basic understanding of key terms and concepts developed in the module. At the end of the module you will complete reflection questions to assess your internalization of the content and its transferability to the classroom.
