Welcome to Guiding Students in Inquiry, the third course in the BRI’s online program, Teaching Historical Reasoning!
Historians are detectives of the past. And, like any good detectives, historians must ask effective questions to understand what happened in history. In this course, you’ll know how to skillfully apply questioning to historical reasoning, which will spark curiosity in the classroom.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
Understand the importance of inquiry in the history classroom
Learn the Question Formulation Technique as a strategy to help students ask more and better questions
Write effective essential questions to meet the learning objectives
