1. Civics education requires dialogue and debate for there to be true understanding of our Republic. Students need to learn the history, framework, and functions of the United States government. Then the students needs to analyze real life events in our country in their live and apply what they learn. They must navigate the complexity of the federal system with different levels of government. They must recognize rights of people, possible violations of those rights and assume the role of a judge or Justice in the Judicial system.. As educators, teachers needs to ask students to apply important concepts such as rule of law and ask students to assume the role of law ,makers to solve societal problems. Through these roles ideas will need to be shared and students will challenge the ideas of their peers. These discussions and debates will encourage investment by the students and this will maximize understanding and hone important real life skills of communication. Furthermore, this type of Civics classroom will teach the students how to have productive civil disagreements.
