Introduction

There is a multitude of ways to look at an issue. We all come to a discussion with a point of view, and all of our experiences contribute to the way we see and think about things in the present, just as actors of the past held differing points of view on events of their time. Our challenge as educators is to be able to identify those perspectives, share them with students to provide a fuller understanding of an event or issue, and do so with respect for the past and present.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

define viewpoint diversity and identify examples in civic life.

identify your own viewpoints on topics in civic life and what influences those viewpoints.

analyze multiple perspectives that align with the question.
